Okay so as hard as the last two days were, we finally went for the second beta and we're happy to announce that the numbers have more than tripled!!
Beta at 13dpo was 103 and at 15dpo was 353! So that's wonderful. We're going for yet another one on Saturday so I hope the numbers keep rising. Then one final one the week after Saturday.
I have no symptoms right now that I would even attribute to pregnancy. Nothing compared to last time that's for sure. I almost want the nausea to just hit head on so I have my daily confirmation that everything is ok.
I am so happy I can't even describe this feeling!!

Update - Pregnant??
Well our first IUI was a flop. I really felt deflated after I got my period because I had such good odds. Good numbers all around.
Kim, an IUI is an intra uterine insemination. They basically take the sperm and just help it get closer to the eggs with a catheter. I was on injectable meds and produced about 6 eggies with the first IUI.
December we had to take off because the clinic was closed. Then we decided to do IUI#2 with my January cycle. I had really low hopes, I only produced 2 eggies and the numbers weren't good. So shortly after we had the IUI we decided to sign up for IVF orientation. By shortly I mean 15 minutes after the procedure lol. My IVF orientation is booked for February 23rd and we saved a cool $750 towards IVF already in January alone.
On 10 days past ovulation, my hubby and I went to a Leaf's game. I had 2 beers, but with such low hopes for anything working I didn't feel guilty. On 11 days past ovulation I felt horrible horrible period cramps and knew that my period was coming. Hubby and I went out to get some wine and beer and have a movie night. But on our way home I thought, lets get some pregnancy tests just to make sure ... you know "juuuust in caaase". Well I peed on the test and immediately a huuuuge BFP came up!! Of course we put it off as HCG from the trigger shot still being in my system. I tested again on 12dpo and it was darker.
I am 13 days past our 2nd IUI and my blood test came back as 103. Which the nurse said was wonderful! So I am officially pregnant!!!
We're going back Thursday of this week to make sure the numbers are doubling and I won't relax until I see that. I have absolutely no symptoms...other than being very irritable. So I'm having a hard time accepting the pregnancy. My last one I was so sick and symptomatic it was insane.
We had a nice cry yesterday...I think the emotions are all over the place. We're happy to finally have made it here after 15 GRUELLING cycles. But we are sad because our son is not with us. I went into his nursery yesterday and there was this black cloud lifted. It did not feel like a room for mourning but instead a room for growth and life. I am sure he will be proud of his little brother or sister and would want nothing less than to have him/her receive all of his treasured things.
We are absolutely over the moon and we just pray that this little bean will stick!!!

10 DP 1st IUI
Well as the title says, I'm 10 days past our IUI...well 10 and 11 days technically as I had 2 back to back IUIs and 2 separate days of ovulation. And I am not feeling a thing..not that I'm surprised, I mean it would have been a miracle if we hit the jackpot on the first try. But I guess I still had a bit of hope that it would work. I do have a massive headache but I can safely attribute that to the strong winds we've had the last 2 days and me not having a hat :)
I tested again with a $1 test and it looks almost identical to the one at 8dpo. There's a faint line there but honestly you can't tell for sure with those cheapie tests because I've always found a faint line on those in the past and not once was I pregnant. I've been testing every few days to see when the HCG was finally out of my system. So I'll go get a couple of FRERs and use one at 12dpo and if that is negative then I think we can safely say it's not happening.
I guess we will just try again in January...I really don't think I'm up for it considering how much work I missed for just one cycle but I don't want to resort to IVF. Here's prayin' for a miracle in the meantime...

Almost Died Today
It was the first storm of the winter and we were on our way back from the clinic this morning and going on the on ramp to the highway we skid sideways across four lanes. We ended up stopping in the shoulder of the fast lane by the concrete centreway and facing the oncoming traffic. I couldn't help but shake and cry hysterically because I felt like that was the day we would die. I am sure someone was watching over us today and helped us because we didn't even get scratched by another car skidding sideways for what seemed like an eternity on Canada's most dangerous highway.
But on a high note, I got my progesterone and estradiol levels today and the nurse said that my progesterone is very very good. I'm not sure what that means but I'll take it that I definitely released more than 1 egg, which we already knew. Oh how nice it would be to break it to everyone at Christmas that we're expecting. But of course that would be too perfect...the due date would also be my birthday lol..so it's not happening.
I'm having a strange pain in the right side of my uterus so it's either a cyst or implantation :) I'm going to go with implantation to live this dream for at least one more week. I know it's foolish to think that but who cares, a girl can dream! It is probably a cyst tho because that's the side I had a 2.7 follicle on.
Anyways, this week will be the longest 7 days of my life until my beta...siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh :)

Our First IUI!!
And hopefully last! :)
We had 2 back to back IUIs on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was 10 days of Gonal-F injections leading up to it, I was so nervous for it. But I think it went well, our numbers were great, above the minimum so that's a positive. I ovulated 1 egg on Tuesday and still had 3-4 more on Wednesday so they gave me another trigger shot. I had so much pain on Wednesday, I hope it was just ovulation pain and nothing serious like the sperm not being washed properly. I had to take the day off work and honestly it brought back so many memories of my c-section last year. The pain was identical, not fun.
Anyways so now we sit back and let nature do it's thing. I can't help but be pessimistic. All I do is read about other couples whom IUI did not work for, and who had much better odds than us. So why would it work for us, I ask myself? Because we're good people, because we follow rules, because we deserve a break? That's exactly why I feel like it WON'T work for us. So of course, I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm trying to stay cautiously optimistic.
So now the longest two weeks of our lives. If this doesn't work, we will try it again in January and then see where we can go from there.
Any prayers or wishes greatly appreciated at this time :)
